Airbag Control Module J234, Removing And Installing, RHD (Not For North AMERICA): Removing

-- Remove the front seats. Refer to Front Seat, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the front sill panels. Refer to Front Sill Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- A-pillar lower trim panels. Refer to A-Pillar Lower Trim Panel, Removing and Installing .

-- Remove the tunnel support cover. Refer to Tunnel Support Cover, Removing and Installing .

-- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

-- Slightly lift up the carpet in between the front and rear attachment points of the front seats.

-- Fold back the carpet so far that the airbag control module is accessible.

CAUTION:

Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.

Risk of injury.

- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.

-- Release the safety ground lock -4- in -the direction of arrow A- and open the bracket -5- in -the direction of arrow B-.

-- Disconnect the connector.

-- Remove the nuts -3-.

-- Loosen the nut -1- using the Ratchet Ring Wrench Insert: VAS 262 015  .

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the airbag control module. If moisture enters the connectors, they will corrode.

- After disconnecting, cover or seal the control module connectors to prevent moisture from entering.

-- Carefully lift the airbag control module -2- from the threaded pins and remove it toward the passenger side.
