Cooling System, Filling With Cooling System Charge Kit Vas 6096: Removing

-- Connect the Cooling System Charge Device:VAS 6096  -1- on the adapter -2-.

-- Connect the Electric Vacuum Pump:VAS 6096/2  -D- to do so connect the hose -E- on the connector coupling -B- on the cooling system charge device -C-.

-- Connect the vacuum pump -D- on the Battery -A- and switch it on.

-- Open the shut-off valve -B-.

-- If the water separator -1- in the electric vacuum pump fills with coolant during the following procedure, drain the coolant expansion tank. Refer to If the water separator -1- in the electric vacuum pump fills with coolant during the following procedure, drain the coolant expansion tank. .

-- Create a vacuum using the electric vacuum pump until the needle -arrow- at the pressure gauge is distinctively below the green area.

-- Close the shut-off valve -B- and switch off the electric vacuum pump -D-.

-- Monitor the pressure gauge for one minute. The needle of the pressure gauge -arrow- must not move.

When the vacuum is reached and the system is airtight, then the cooling system can be filled.

-- "Slowly" open the shut-off valve -A-, to prevent the foaming up of the coolant.

Tip

Coolant is extracted from the coolant reservoir -F- by pressure in the coolant system and the system is filled.

-- Close the shut-off valve -A- after filling.

-- Remove the electric vacuum pump and the cooling system filling system -C- from the coolant expansion tank.

-- The coolant level in the coolant expansion tank must be 10 mm above the MAX mark -1-.

-- Connect the Cooling System Tester:V.A.G 1274 B  -3- with the adapter -1- on the coolant expansion tank -2-.

-- Create a pressure of 1.0 bar (14.5 psi) using the hand pump on the cooling system tester -3-.

-- Perform the "Cooling System, Bleeding" function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .

Condition

• Run the function twice.

-- Release the pressure at the cooling system tester hand pump -3-.

-- Remove the adapter -1- from the coolant expansion tank.

-- Add or extract the coolant.

Condition

• The coolant level must be 10 mm above the MAX mark -1-.

Tip

The increased coolant level is necessary because the coolant level may fall when driving.
