Coolant, Draining, With Cooling System Service Station Vas 531 011

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

CAUTION:

Risk of damage for high-voltage components overheating.

- If the coolant is drained do not perform the HV charging process.

- Mark the vehicle respectively.

Procedure

Condition

-- Make sure that in the "DRAIN" -container from the cooling system service station can hold 15 liters of coolant.

CAUTION:

The cooling system can be under pressure. Risk of scalding by hot steam and hot coolant.

Possibility of scalding the skin and other parts of the body.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Reduce the pressure: cover the coolant expansion tank cap with a suitable towel and carefully open.

-- Open the coolant expansion tank cap -arrow-.

-- Install the adapter from the cooling system service station on the coolant expansion tank.

-- Connect the service connection.

Condition

-- Remove the rear center underbody trim panel. Refer to REAR CENTER UNDERBODY TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Position the cooling system service station for catching the coolant under the separating point.

-- Select "vehicle maintenance" in the main menu and select "system, draining".

-- Start "draining process".

-- Open the clamp -arrow- on the Electric Drive Power and Control Electronics -JX1- and remove the coolant hose -1-.

-- Let the coolant run into the drip tray for the cooling system service station.

-- Seal the coolant hose -1- using the Hose Clamps - Up To 40mm:3093  .

-- Install the commercially available coolant hose on the connection -1- on the motor.

-- Hold the commercially available coolant hose in the funnel from the cooling system service station when draining.

-- Select the procedure "system, draining".

-- Follow the instructions on the display and blow out the coolant, until the coolant only drips out or air comes out.

-- If necessary, restart the procedure "system, draining".

-- Remove the commercially available coolant hose on the connection of the coolant hoses -1- on the motor.

-- Remove the hose clamp from the coolant hose -1-.

-- Hold the coolant hose -1- when draining in the funnel from the cooling system service station.

-- Restart the "system, draining" procedure.

-- Follow the instructions on the display and blow out the coolant, until the coolant only drips out or air comes out.

-- If necessary, restart the procedure "system, draining".

-- Assemble the cooling system.
