Heater And A/C Unit, Removing And Installing: Removing
Immediately seal off any open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS 6122 .
There is a risk of fatal injury due to high voltage.
Electrocution by direct contact or electric arc can cause severe bodily injury or fatal injury.
- Have a high-voltage technician (HVT) or a high-voltage expert (HVE) de-energize the high-voltage system.
-- Refer to [For engine(s) EBJA, EBJC, ECUA, EDFA, EDDA] High-Voltage System, De-Energizing .
-- Refer to the appropriate Service Information .
-- Remove the refrigerant pipe from the expansion valve. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING AT EXPANSION VALVE, R1234YF .
-- Remove the instrument panel crossmember. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CROSSMEMBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the rear passenger side footwell vent. Refer to FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the rear center console air duct vent from the heater and A/C unit. Refer to AIR DUCT FOR REAR CENTER CONSOLE VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connectors and the wire from the heater and A/C unit.
Risk of damaging the airbag control module. If moisture enters the connectors, they will corrode.
- After disconnecting, cover or seal the control module connectors to prevent moisture from entering.
-- Place a cleaning cloth under the condensation water drain -1- to collect escaping condensation water.
-- Remove the condensation water drain -2- from the heater and A/C unit connection -1- -arrow A-.
-- Disconnect the connector -7-.
-- Loosen the clip -5-.
-- Remove the nut -8-.
-- Remove the potential equalization cable.
Condition
- The help of a second person is necessary for the following procedure.
-- Remove the heater and A/C unit -1-.
