Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor, Removing And Installing: Removing

Repair Information

  • Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
  • Before handling airbag units (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.

-- Remove the front seat. Refer to FRONT SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Secure the seat on the seat repair fixture.

-- Remove the front seat backrest. Refer to FRONT BACKREST, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the sensor connector -3- for the passenger occupant detection system -2- on the wiring harness.

-- Loosen the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor wiring harness from the seat frame.

-- Remove the cover and cushion from the seat frame. Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Separate the cover and cushion. Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND CUSHION, SEPARATING .

NOTE:

To prevent any removed components from being installed again by mistake, the components should be separated from each other and disposed.

The following work applies to these components.

The components pictured can vary in form and appearance from the present vehicle. However the assembly and functionality are identical.

-- Remove the wiring harness -2- for the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor -3- from the channel and guide it through the seat cushion -1-.

-- Loosen the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor -1- from the seat cushion -2- starting from -direction of arrow A- in -direction of arrow B-.

-- Remove the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor -1- from the seat cushion -2-.
