Right Seal On Bevel Box, Replacing: Removing

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the noise insulation below the engine/transmission. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- If equipped, remove the drive axle heat shield -1- from the bevel box -arrows-. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

The right drive axle heat shield is attached with two or three nuts.

-- Remove the right drive axle. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place the Drip Tray or Used Oil Collection and Extraction Unit: SMN372500  underneath.

-- Remove the circlip -arrow A- and the O-ring -arrow B- from the stub shaft.

NOTE:

On some bevel boxes, a cap -arrow- is installed at the right. Replace the cap each time it is removed.

Removing the cap.

-- Insert the Puller - Grease Cap: VW637/2  in the notch -arrow- and pry out the cap.

-- Pry out the seal.
