Camshaft Timing Chain, Removing And Installing: Notes

Conditions:

Transmission removed
Drive plate removed
Oil pan removed
Sealing flange -transmission side- removed
Cylinder head cover removed

Removing

-- Turn the crankshaft using the Counterhold - Multiple Use:T10172A in the direction of engine rotation on the adjustment markings.

The milled drive chain sprocket tooth -A- must align with the bearing joint.

The marking on the chain sprocket -arrow B- must align with the marking on the oil pump.

NOTE:

This position is only reached at every fourth turn.

Cams -A- of cylinder 1 must face each other.

-- Remove the camshaft adjuster. Refer to CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -1- and -2-. Remove the guide rail -A-.
