Overview - Rear Brakes:
NOTE:
Use the Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit:VAS5234 to extract brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.
Install the Brake Pedal Actuator:VAG1869/2 before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose (doing so reduces the pressure).
- Brake Shield
- Allocation. Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information.
- TORX®
Bolt
- 12 Nm
- Brake Rotor
- Replace both sides if worn.
- Wear limits. Refer to REAR BRAKES .
- Do not use excessive force to separate the brake rotor from the wheel hub. Use rust remover, if necessary, otherwise the brake rotor could be damaged.
- To remove, first remove the brake caliper and carrier
- TORX®
Bolt
- 8 Nm
- Brake Caliper
- Do not remove the brake hose when changing the brake pads.
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Servicing. Refer to REAR BRAKE CALIPER .
- After servicing or replacing perform the "Basic Setting" with the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- Internal Multi-Point Bolt
- 90 Nm + 90°
- Replace after removing.
- Remove and install using the Multipoint Socket:T10035 . Refer to Fig 2.
- Brake Carrier
- Spring
- Outer Brake Pad
- Always replace on both axles.
- Thickness, Checking. Refer to FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PAD THICKNESS AND BRAKE ROTOR CONDITION, CHECKING .
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Wear limit: 2 mm without backing plate
- Inner Brake Pad
- Always replace on both axles.
- With spring
- Wear limit: 2 mm without backing plate
- Thickness, Checking. Refer to FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PAD THICKNESS AND BRAKE ROTOR CONDITION, CHECKING .
- Removing and installing. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Spring
- Installed on the inner brake pad only.
- Pay attention to the installed position.
- Brake Line
- 14 Nm
- Bracket
- Brake Hose Spring on the Bracket
- Brake Hose with Ring Connection and Banjo Bolt
- To the brake caliper: 35 Nm
- To the brake line: 14 Nm
- Guide Pin
- 35 Nm
- Caps
- For the guide pins
- Seal
- For the Parking Brake Motor
- Always replace
- Hex Socket Bolt
- 8 Nm
- Parking Brake Motor
- Removing and installing. Refer to Left Parking Brake Motor -V282- /Right Parking Brake Motor -V283-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
