Brake Pads, Removing And Installing, Front Brakes: Installing

NOTE:

Before pressing the piston into the cylinder using the piston resetting tool, the brake fluid must be extracted from the brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise the brake fluid will overflow and cause damage, especially if the brake fluid was added intermittently.

-- Push back both pistons -1 and 2- using the :T10145  -A- in the brake caliper -3-.

-- Lightly grease the pad guide surfaces on the brake carrier with Lithium Grease G 052150 A2.

NOTE:

The upper left and lower right brake pad retaining plates -2 and 4- as well as the upper right and lower left -3 and 5- are identical.

The brake pad retaining plate side tabs must point outward.

-- Place the new brake pad retaining plates -2 through 5- on the brake carrier -1-.

-- Place the brake pad -2- in the lower brake pad retaining plate -3- -arrow A-.

-- Then push the brake pad -2- rearward in direction of -arrow B- until the tab of the brake pad is positioned in front of the recess of the upper brake pad retaining plate -4-.

-- Then push the brake pad -2- in the upper brake pad retaining plate -4- in direction of -arrow C-.

The installation of the inner brake pad is identical.

NOTE:

After installing the brake pads, ensure the proper seating of all brake pad retaining plates.

-- Place the brake caliper carefully on the brake carrier.

-- Counterhold at the guide pin and mount the brake caliper on the brake carrier with new self-locking bolts.

-- Connect the connector for the brake pad wear indicator if equipped.

-- Install the wheels.
