Brake Pads, Removing And Installing: Removing
The following information describes the removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle as an example.
-- Refer to WHEEL, REMOVING .
Right Side of Vehicle
-- Disconnect the connector for the Front Brake Pad Wear Sensor -G35-.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Counterhold at the guide pin -3- and remove the bolts -2- from the brake carrier -1-.
-- Remove the brake caliper -1- and position it so that the weight of the brake caliper -1- does not stress the brake hose.
-- Secure the brake caliper -1- from falling.
-- Remove the brake pad springs -arrows- using a screwdriver -A-.
Conditions
- At the same time do not bend the brake pad springs.
-- Turn the brake pad -1- in the direction of -arrow A- and remove in direction of -arrow B-.
-- Pry off the brake pad retaining plates -1- at the locations -arrows- using a screwdriver -A-.
-- Thoroughly clean the contact surfaces for the brake pads and remove corrosion using suitable service equipment.
Risk of injury due to chemical cleaning solutions. Chemical cleaning solutions can be easily inflammable and cause eye and skin irritation.
- Wear protective eyewear, safety gloves and a respirator.
- Pay attention to the safety data sheet and the operating instructions of the chemical.
-- Clean the brake caliper.
Conditions
- Use only commercially available mineral spirits to clean the brake caliper.
