Spring, Replacing: Removing

-- Remove the spring. Refer to Spring, Removing and Installing  .

-- Connect the Foot Pump: VAS 6179  to the Spring Tensioning System - Hydraulic Tensioner: VAS 6274/9  .

-- Check the nuts -arrows- on the Spring Tensioning System - Hydraulic Tensioner: VAS 6274/9  -L- for secure fit.

-- Install the Centering Disc Spring Attachment: VAS 6274/15-6A  -I- to the tensioner -L-.

Conditions

-- Secure the centering plate -I- using the bolt -1-.

-- Attach the Supplementary Kit - Adapter Plate with Magnets: VAS 6274/15-5  -H- at the movable mount, at the same time pay attention to the correct seating of the magnetic mount.

-- Insert the spring -1- into the tensioner -L- using tools.

Conditions

-- Hold the spring in this position.

-- Connect the tensioner foot pump -L-.

-- Drive out the plunger from the tensioner -L-, until the spring -1- is tightened.

Conditions

-- Pay attention that the spring -1- correctly fits to the adapter plate guide -M-.

-- Calculate the dimension -a- and note it down.

-- Mark the installation position of the Thrust Plate with Slide Lock: VAS 6274/16-2  -F- and the Thrust Plate with Wheel Bearing Housing: VAS 6274/16-1  -M- at the spring -1-.

-- Attach the Supplementary Kit - Centering Sleeve: VAS 6274/15-7  -J-.

-- Position the Supplementary Kit - Socket with Ball Head (8 mm): VAS 6274/15-3  -K- on the Threaded spindle 130 mm (SW19): VAS 6274/15-1A  -E-.

-- Release the tension of the spring -1- using the socket -K- at the tensioner -L-.

-- Slightly drive back the tensioner plunger -L- using the foot pump.

-- Make sure that the spring -1- is seated correctly in the pressure plates -L-.

-- Release the tension of the spring -1- using the socket -K- in the tensioner -L-.

-- Further drive back the tensioner plunger -L- using the foot pump.

-- Remove the tools.
