Spring, Replacing: Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
-- Insert the spring -1- into the tensioner -L-.
Conditions
- The markings must be transferred to the new coil spring.
- The mount guides -1- must be seated into the centering plate holes -I-.
-- Hold the spring in this position.
-- Connect the tensioner foot pump -L-.
-- Drive out the plunger from the tensioner -L-, up to the spring -1-.
Conditions
- The spring -1- must not be tensioned.
-- Pay attention that the spring -1- correctly fits to the adapter plate guide -M-.
-- Drive closer to the plunger from the tensioner -L-, until the spring -1- is secured.
-- Insert the pressure plate -F- in installation position.
-- Move the Set - 69mm Plunger: VAS 6274/12-6 -D- through the thrust plates -F-.
-- Insert the plunger -D- into the pressure plate -F-.
Conditions
- The markings -arrow- on the plunger -D- and thrust plate -F- are at an offset of 90° to each other.
-- Turn the plunger -D- by 90°.
-- Pull the plunger -D- downward into the guides of the thrust plate -F-.
Conditions
- The markings -arrows- must align.
-- Insert the thrust plate -M-, use the markings for this.
-- Insert the spindle -E- in the pistons -D-, for this Socket with Ball Head (8 mm): VAS 6274/15-3 .
-- Attach the anti-twist mechanism.
Conditions
- Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm.
-- Push the locking mechanism -1- all the way in the -direction of the arrow-. This will secure the plunger -D-.
-- Slide the Supplementary Kit - Spindle Attachment: VAS 6274/15-2A -G- on the spindle -E-.
-- Further insert the spindle -E- into the plunger -D-.
-- Insert the spindle -E- as far, until the spindle attachment -G- to the thrust plate -M-.
-- Pay attention that the spindle attachment -G- correctly fits into the hole of the thrust plate -M-.
-- Attach the Supplementary Kit - Centering Sleeve: VAS 6274/15-7 -J-.
-- Attach the socket -K- to the spindle -E-.
-- Make sure that the spring -1- is seated correctly in the pressure plates -L-.
-- Turn the socket -K- two turns.
-- Turn the socket -K- as far, that the spring -1- cannot slip out of the tensioner -L-.
-- Pay attention that the spring -1- and the tools are seated correctly.
-- Apply the foot pump and slightly tension the spring -1- with the tensioner plunger -L-.
-- Tension the spring -1- via the spindle -E-. Always drive up the plunger of the tensioner -L-.
-- Tighten the spring -1- so far that the calculated dimension a is reached.
-- Drive back the tensioner plunger -L- using the foot pump.
-- Hold the spring -1-.
-- Remove the spring -1- from the tensioner -L- using tools.
Risk of accident due to components on tension.
- Make sure the coil spring is positioned correctly in the spring holder.
- Hold the spring compressor with the tensioned spring.
-- Install the spring. Refer to Spring, Removing and Installing .
