Rear SUBFRAME Mount, Replacing: Removing

-- Grease the threads of the Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit - Thrust Piece: T10205/13 -W-.

-- Install the Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit - Thrust Piece: T10205/13 -W- in the Hydraulic Press: VAS 6178 -V-.

-- Install the Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit - Thrust Piece: T10205/13 -W- all the way.

-- Lower the rear axle rear section. Refer to Rear Axle, Lowering .

-- Completely remove the rear subframe bolts.

-- Secure the stabilizer bar -2- on the Engine and Gearbox Jack: VAS 6931 -B-.

-- Pry out the cover -1- with an extractor lever -X- on the subframe -2-.

-- Use the engine and gearbox jack to lower the subframe a maximum of 35 mm.

-- Attach the Thrust Piece: T10620/8 -A- to the rear subframe bearing -1-.

-- Install the Assembly Tool - Spindle: T10620/11 -B- in the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/8 -A-.

Conditions

The distance -a- between the subframe -2- and the vehicle body -3- is 35 mm.

-- Position the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/2 -C- on the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/5 -D-.

-- The guide from the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/2 -C- must engage in the hole -arrow-.

Conditions

The straight edges lay over each other.

-- Push the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/5 -D- together with Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/2 -C- on the Assembly Tool - Spindle: T10620/11 -B-.

-- The straight edges -arrow- of the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/5 -D- and Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/2 -C- point to the mount for the stabilizer bar -3- on the subframe -2-.

-- The inner edges of the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/2 -C- must be positioned between the recesses on the bearing -1- on the subframe -2-.

Conditions

The inner edge from the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T10620/2 -C- must contact the subframe -2-.

-- Push the Hydraulic Press: VAS 6178 -V- on the Spindle: T10620/11 -B-.

-- Install the Nut: T10205/8-2 -U- on the Spindle: T10620/11 -B- and tighten hand-tight.

-- Pretension the tools and the bearing at the rear subframe -1- via the Nut: T10205/8-2 -U-.

-- The Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit - Nut: T10205/8-2 -U- must be installed flush on the Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit -Thrust Piece: T10205/13 -W-.

-- The guide from the Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit - Nut: T10205/8-2 -U- must be seated in the Bearing Installer - Wheel Hub/Bearing Kit -Thrust Piece: T10205/13 -W-.

-- Align the tools again and tighten the Nut: T10205/8-2 -U-.

-- Connect the Foot Pump: VAS 6179 on the Hydraulic Press: VAS 6178 -V-.

CAUTION:

Tools might fall down and injury may occur.

- When pressing out the tool have a second technician secure it from falling.

-- Operate the Foot Pump: VAS 6179 and press out the rear subframe bearing using the Hydraulic Press: VAS 6178 .
