-- Remove the C-pillar trim panel. Refer to C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Risk of damaging the headliner if not lowering it enough.
- Lower the headliner sufficiently.
-- Lower the headliner until the nuts -4- and -5- can be removed from the headliner without damage.
Requirement
- The gas-filled struts or the Rear Lid Motor 1 -V444- and the Rear Lid Motor 2 -V445- must stay installed.
Requirement
- The help of a second person is necessary for the following procedure.
-- A second person must hold the rear lid at the lower area -arrow- on the side of the hinge to be removed.
Risk of paint damage due to a loose rear lid.
- Tape off the roof edges and the upper edge of the rear lid with commercially available adhesive tape.
-- Loosen the nuts -4- and -5- and bolts -2-.
-- Remove the nuts -4- and -5-.
-- Remove the seal -3-.
-- Remove the bolts -2-.
-- Remove the hinge -1-.
