Rubber Bonded Bushing, Removing And Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Removing

-- Remove the rear final drive. Refer to FINAL DRIVE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Upper Rear Bonded Rubber Bushing, Removing

1 -  Counter Support (Kukko 22/1):VAS 251 621 

2 -  Internal Puller (Kukko 21-1):VAS 251 601 

-- A piece must be broken out of the bonded rubber bushing collar -arrow- to attach the Support.

-- Insert the Internal Puller in the joint of the upper and lower bonded rubber bushing and tension.

Lower Rear Bonded Rubber Bushing, Removing

-- Drive out the bonded rubber bushing using the Locking Pin Driver:30-505  -1- and Bearing Installer - Clutch Housing/Gearbox Bearing:VW 554  -2-.

Install the upper rear bonded rubber bushings -A- and lower rear -B-.

-- Install the bonded rubber bushing as shown.

1 and 2 -  Bearing Installer - Control Arm:3346 

3 -  Bushing Installer - Rear Axle Beam:3128 

4 -  Rear Bushing Tool - Thrust Piece:T40033/1 

-- Place a washer with a >>15 mm inner diameter<< and a >>minimum 27 mm outer diameter<< on the Bearing Installer - Component:3346/2  before it is installed.

Instead of the Rear Bushing Tool:T40033/1  , the Bearing Installer - Control Arm Press Piece:3416/1  can also be used.

Lower Front Bonded Rubber Bushing, Removing

1 -  Counter Support (Kukko 22/1):VAS 251 621 

2 -  Internal Puller (Kukko 21-1):VAS 251 601 

-- A piece must be broken out of the bonded rubber bushing collar -arrow- to attach the Support -1-.

-- Insert the Internal Puller -2- in the joint of the upper and lower bonded rubber bushing and tension.

Upper Front Bonded Rubber Bushing, Removing

-- Drive out the bonded rubber bushing using the Locking Pin Driver:30-505  -1- and Bearing Installer - Clutch Housing/Gearbox Bearing:VW 554  -2-.

Install the lower front -A- and upper front bonded rubber bushing -B-.

-- Install the bonded rubber bushing as shown.

1 and 2 -  Bearing Installer - Control Arm:3346 

3 -  Assembly Tool Kit - Traverse:T10030/5 

4 -  Rear Bushing Tool - Thrust Piece:T40033/1 

-- Place a washer with a >>15 mm inner diameter<< and a >>minimum 27 mm outer diameter<< on the Bearing Installer - Component:3346/2  before it is installed.

Instead of the Rear Bushing Tool:T40033/1  , the Bearing Installer - Control Arm Press Piece:3416/1  can also be used.

Upper Rear and Lower Front Bonded Rubber Bushings, Differentiating

The upper rear and lower front bonded rubber bushings vary in height -a-.

Dimension "a" mm Bonded rubber bushing
22 "upper rear"
17 "lower front"

"Upper Rear" and "Lower Front" Bonded Rubber Bushing Installation Position:

Installation of the stop washer -2-

-- Pull the pins -1- into the holes in the stop washer -1- -arrows-.

The stop washer -2- is permanently connected to the bonded rubber bushing.
