NOTE:

This step merely allows the fuel pump to run when the engine is off, if the fuel pump cannot be activated by the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

If this step is necessary, it will be given in the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

-- Remove the right installation opening cover. Refer to INSTALLATION OPENING COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Pull on the connector -1- without pressing the release to make sure the connection is secure. If the connector was not connected correctly, it could cause a malfunction.

-- Release and disconnect the connector -1-.

-- Check the contacts on the connector and on the fuel delivery unit for damage.

-- Connect the Injection Rate Comparison Meter Kit - Remote Cable:V.A.G 1348/3A to the contact -1- using the Injection Rate Kit - Remote Cable:V.A.G 1348/3-3 and cable from the Connector Test Set:V.A.G 1594D .

-- Tape off the second connector terminal of the Injection Rate Kit - Remote Cable:V.A.G 1348/3-3 with insulating tape -arrow- to prevent short circuits.

-- Connect the contact -2- to the battery negative terminal -A- with an adapter cable from the Connector Test Set:V.A.G 1594D .

-- Connect the Injection Rate Comparison Meter Kit - Remote Cable:V.A.G 1348/3A to the battery positive terminal clamp -B-.

-- The fuel pump delivery rate is dependent on the battery voltage. For this reason additionally connect a Multimeter on the connectors -1- and -2- from the fuel delivery unit.

-- Connect the Multimeter to the Connector Test Set:V.A.G 1594D .

-- Follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
