Covered Gas-Filled Strut, Removing And Installing, ARTEON Shooting Brake: Removing

NOTE:

Support the rear lid if the gas-filled strut is being removed. The drive unit alone cannot hold the rear lid open.

-- Open the rear lid and support it.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the spring clip by prying out further.

Tearing of the spring clip is possible.

- Never pry the spring clip completely out of the ball socket.

-- Press on the drive unit to the ball stud.

-- Guide a screwdriver -5- under the spring clips -4- -arrow a-.

-- The spring clip -4- opens by inserting the screwdriver until the spring clip can be moved via the ball stud -2-.

-- Remove the gas-filled strut -1- from the ball stud -2-.

After removing the rear lid drive motor remove the screwdriver -5- immediately again.

The spring clip -4- slides back into their installation position.

-- The gas-filled strut must be vented when disposing of it. Refer to GAS-FILLED STRUT, VENTING .
