Parking Aid Sensor Bracket, Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Materials

  • Cleaning Solution:D 009 401 04

(1) Follow the manufacturer processing instructions supplied in the packaging.

Bracket, Installing

NOTE:

After the bumper cover is painted, install the brackets.

The four markings for the bracket -1- are found on the inside of the bumper cover.

-- Determine the central point -2-, if not already present.

-- The holes are pre-drilled from the inside outward using the Drill Bit:VAS 6614/4  -3- supplied in the tool kit.

-- Attach the PDC Holder Tool Set - Screw Hole Punch Ø18.4:VAS 6614/9  with the bolt head -1-, the washer -2- and the counterholder -3- on the inside of the bumper cover -5-.

-- Position the iron punch -4- almost up to the bumper cover.

-- Push the iron punch -4- onto the bumper cover.

-- Tighten the hole stamper -1-.

NOTE:

The iron punch -4- must not rotate on the bumper cover paint.

-- By turning at the bolt head -1-, the iron punch -4- is pulled through the bumper cover material -5- -arrows-.

-- Remove the hole stamper and stamp the next holes.

-- Thoroughly clean the bumper cover and bracket with cleaning solution.

-- Pay attention to the orientation of the bracket according to the alignment of the sensors -arrows-.

-- Align the connections of the outer sensors -1- inward -arrows-.

-- Align the connections of the inner sensors -2- outward -arrows-.

-- Thoroughly clean the adhesive surfaces and bumper cover -4- with cleaning solution and lint-free cleaning cloth.

-- Mind the flash-off time of 10 minutes for the cleaning solution.

-- Slide the bracket -2- onto the centering drift -1-.

-- Remove the protective film on double-sided adhesive tape -3- on the bracket.

-- Guide the centering drift -1- through the hole until the bracket makes contact on the bumper cover -4-.

-- Press on the bracket firmly near the adhesive surface -3-.

-- Remove centering drift and repeat this step on all brackets.

-- Any further work on the bumper cover can only be done after the minimum curing time. Refer to  PARKING AID SENSOR BRACKET, INSTALLING.

  1. Minimum Curing Time

Wait two hours for the minimum curing time before performing any further work on the bumper cover and the bracket.

Observe the minimum curing time so that the full adhesive strength of the adhesive tape can develop.

The bumper cover must stay in place and may not be moved during this time.
