- A/C Service Station
- Flushing Adapter for R744 :VAS 6338/77
- Flushing Device
- Engine Bung Set :VAS 6122
- The circuit is flushed using refrigerant R1234yf and the designated A/C service station.
- The following describes the procedure using an A/C service station with an integrated flushing device for R1234yf as an example.
- A contaminated refrigerant circuit is flushed in the normal flow direction.
- There must be at least 6 kg (13.23 lbs) of refrigerant in the A/C service station.
- Pay attention to the A/C service station operating instructions. Refer to the Operating Instructions.
Procedure
Immediately seal off any open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set :VAS 6122 .
-- Remove the refrigerant pipes from the A/C compressor. Refer to REFRIGERANT LINES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING TO A/C COMPRESSOR, R1234YF / REFRIGERANT LINES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING TO A/C COMPRESSOR, R744 .
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the A/C Pressure/Temperature Sensor -G395- -2-.
-- Connect the low-pressure hose -1- of the A/C Service Station using the quick-release coupling -2- to the Flushing Device -3- of the A/C Service Station.
-- Attach the high-pressure side refrigerant line -4- to the Flushing Adapter for R744 :VAS 6338/77 -3-.
-- Attach the low-pressure side refrigerant line -5- to the Flushing Adapter for R744 :VAS 6338/78 -6-.
-- Bolt together the refrigerant hose -7- of the Flushing Device to the Flushing Adapter for R744 :VAS 6338/78 -6-.
-- Connect the refrigerant hose -2- of the A/C Service Station to the Flushing Adapter for R744 :VAS 6338/77 -3-.
-- Perform the "open the electric activated valves for the refrigerant circuit for extracting, evacuating, filling and flushing" with the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .
-- Start the flushing procedure via the menu of the A/C Service Station. Refer to Owner's Manual.
Conditions
- The A/C Service Station will display the end of the flushing process.
Danger of frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.
Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Evacuate or drain refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.
- If more than 10 minutes have elapsed since evacuating or draining the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, evacuate or drain the refrigerant again. Pressure develops in the refrigerant circuit due to evaporation.
-- Check the pressure in the flushing circuit. Only if it is the same or below the ambient pressure, remove the refrigerant hoses and the adapters.
-- Disconnect the A/C Service Station and remove the adapters.
-- After charging the refrigerant circuit and re-energizing the high-voltage system, perform the "A/C compressor, first break-in" function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester . Refer to Diagnostic Entries .
