Cylinder Head, Checking For Distortion

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Straight Edge - 500mm:VAS 6075
The procedure is described as an example for a 4-cylinder engine.
-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to Cylinder Head, Removing and Installing .
-- Attach the Straight Edge - 500mm:VAS 6075 -1- at several positions of the cylinder head -3- and check for distortion using a commercially available feeler gauge -2-.
- Maximum permissible distortion. Refer to Check and Adjustment Values .
Requirement
- If the maximum permissible distortion is exceeded, then the cylinder head must be replaced.
