Compression, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

Requirement

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Disconnect the fuel injector connector -arrow-.

-- Remove the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plugs, Replacing.

-- Insert the Compression Tester Kit - Adapter:V.A.G 1763/13  -A- into the spark plug hole and connect the Compression Tester Kit:V.A.G 1763  -B-.

-- Check the compression with the compression tester -B- according to the operating instructions.

Requirement

-- Start the engine and press the accelerator pedal all the way, until no increase in pressure on the compression tester -B- is displayed.

-- Repeat the procedure on each cylinder.

If the Test with the Compression Tester Kit:V.A.G 1763  Does Not Lead to a Clear Result there are Two Additional Tests.

-- Perform the loss of pressure test using the Pressure-Loss Tester:VAS 522 001  according to the operating instructions.

-- Check the CO2 content using the CO2 Coolant Tester:VAS 531 009  according to the operating instructions.

-- Check and clear the DTC memory using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester .
