Balance Shaft, Removing And Installing, Intake Side: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Push on the intake side balance shaft pipe, at the same time pay attention to the installation position.

Requirement

Requirement

-- Firmly press together the needle bearing rim until it locks.

-- Check if all rollers are correctly installed in the bearing cage.

-- Coat the needle bearing and bearing track -arrows- from the intake side balance shaft with engine oil.

-- Turn the intake side balance shaft in the installation position.

Requirement

-- Insert the intake side balance shaft and tighten the bolt -2-.

-- Place the O-ring -1- on the bearing pin.

Requirement

-- Mark the tooth face on the intermediate shaft sprocket with paint -arrow-.

Tip

The new intermediate shaft sprocket has an anti-friction coating that wears off after a short period of use and thus automatically adjusts the backlash.

-- Insert the intermediate shaft sprocket.

Requirement

-- Pay attention that the intermediate shaft sprocket and the balance shaft face each other as shown.

-- Tighten the bolt -1- to 10 Nm.

-- Rotate the intermediate shaft sprocket and check for play.

If Play is Determined:

-- Loosen the bolt -1- and tighten to 10 Nm again.

If No Play is Detected:

-- Tighten the plug -1- to the final tightening specification.
