Trailing Arm, Servicing, Standard Bearing

Identify the Type of the Trailing Arm Bracket

The trailing arm bearings shown have different removal and installation.
The bearing -1- points to a hydraulic mount.
The bearing -2- points to the standard bearing.

Removing

-- Remove the trailing arm with the mounting bracket. Refer to TRAILING ARM WITH MOUNTING BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Clamp the trailing arm -1- in the vise with protective covers.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and remove the mounting bracket -3- from the trailing arm.

Mark the Bearing Position on the Longitudinal Member

-- Project the imaginary center line through the brace -1-.

-- Using a felt-tip pen mark the extension of the center line -arrows- on the longitudinal member.

Press out the trailing arm bearing

CAUTION:

Risk of injury by pulling the tools crooked when removing and installing the bearing.

It is possible that parts of the body may become bruised

- Do not tilt the tools or install the bearing crooked.

-- Mount the tools as shown.

-- Press out the trailing arm bearing.

Trailing Arm Bearing, Pressing In

Position the new trailing arm bearing on the trailing arm so that the brace -1- is flush in a line with the markings -arrows- on the trailing arm.

-- Press in the trailing arm bearing so that the press-in depth is reached.

Press-in Depth, Checking

-- Check if the end position is reached.

CAUTION:

Personal injuries are possible. Risk of accident due to incorrectly pressing-in the trailing arm bearing.

- Pay attention to the compliance of the press-in depth.

Trailing arm recess measuring point -1-
Rubber bushing measuring point -2-
Dimension -a- = 14.8 mm

Determining Installation Position of Mounting Bracket Relative to Trailing Arm

-- Clamp the trailing arm -2- in the vise with jaw protectors.

-- Position the mounting bracket -1- on the trailing arm -2-.

-- Install the bolt -3-.

-- Adjust the dimension -a- to 34 mm and tighten the bolt -3-.

-- Install the trailing arm with the mounting bracket. Refer to TRAILING ARM WITH MOUNTING BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
