Spring, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Loosen the wheel bolts.
-- Raise the vehicle.
-- Remove the wheel.
-- Secure both sides of the vehicle on the hoist lifting arms using the Tensioning Straps:T10038 .
- Tensioning Strap:T10038
Vehicle not tied down on the hoist.
Vehicle can slip off the hoist.
- Secure the vehicle as described in the procedure on the hoist.
Vehicles with Level Control System Sensor
-- Remove the bolts -1-.
-- Remove the Left Rear Level Control System Sensor -- -2- bracket.
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Press the tabs -arrows- on the assembly aid -1- inward.
-- Remove the assembly aid -1- upward.
The mounting aid -1- must not be installed again.
-- Place the engine and gearbox jack under the lower transverse link and push upward gently.
-- Insert the Spring Compressor -3-.

Make sure the spring is seated correctly in the Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Retainer with Inserts:V.A.G 1752/3A -arrow- (risk of accident).
Use a wrench or a reversible ratchet to tighten the spring compressor.
-- Tension the spring.
-- Remove the nut -1- and then the bolt -2- for the coupling rod -3-.
-- Remove the nut -1- and then the bolt -2- for the shock absorber threaded connection.
-- Remove the nut -3- and then the bolt -4- for the wheel bearing housing threaded connection.
Hold the Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Tensioner:V.A.G 1752/1 with the spring tensioned (risk of accident).
-- Slowly lower the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS 6931 under the lower transverse link until the Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Tensioner:V.A.G 1752/1 with the tensioned spring can be removed.
