Leaking Or Damaged Components, Replacing, Empty Refrigerant Circuit Except A/C Compressor And Receiver/Dryer

• In the event of only a minor leak with slow escape of refrigerant (for example at a small leakage point), the amount of refrigerant oil lost and the amount of moisture penetrating after servicing is not sufficient to influence the A/C system function. In this case the refrigerant circuit does not need to be flushed. Refer to LEAKING OR DAMAGED COMPONENTS, REPLACING, FILLED REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT EXCEPT A/C COMPRESSOR .

The refrigerant circuit was completely empty (for example if there is a large leak or a ruptured gas cooler), an unknown amount of refrigerant oil leaked, or the refrigerant circuit had been open for an unknown period of time.

-- Replace the faulty component. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit (vehicle-specific Service Information).

-- Clean the refrigerant circuit (flush with refrigerant R134a or R1234yf). Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CLEANING .

-- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to Technical Data (vehicle-specific Service Information).

-- Because the refrigerant oil absorbed moisture, drain the old refrigerant oil from the A/C compressor through the connections. To ensure best possible drainage, move the A/C compressor in circular motion while draining.

Vehicles without a weight indication on the data plate of the A/C compressor

-- Fill in the complete recommended amount of oil for the refrigerant circuit into the A/C compressor and the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REPLACING WITHOUT NEEDING TO CLEAN REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT  and Technical Data (vehicle-specific Service Information).

Vehicles with a weight indication on the data plate of the A/C compressor

-- Determine the remaining amount of oil in the A/C compressor (m _{residual quantity of oil in the old A/C compressor} ). Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REPLACING WITHOUT NEEDING TO CLEAN REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Fill in the complete recommended amount of oil for the refrigerant circuit, subtracting the amount of residual oil in the A/C compressor, into the low pressure connection of the A/C compressor and the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REPLACING WITHOUT NEEDING TO CLEAN REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT  and Technical Data (vehicle-specific Service Information).

-- Replace the desiccant bag, accumulator or receiver/dryer. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit (vehicle-specific Service Information).

-- Assemble, evacuate and recharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to WORKING WITH A/C SERVICE STATION .
