A/C Compressor, Replacing Due To Leaking Or Internal Damage

The refrigerant circuit does not have to be flushed if there is a fault in the electrically-driven A/C compressor electronics (the Control Module -- is faulty, for example). If this is the case, replace the A/C compressor without cleaning the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REPLACING WITHOUT NEEDING TO CLEAN REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C Compressor (vehicle-specific Service Information).

-- Pour old refrigerant oil out of the A/C compressor, measure and check for discoloration.

If the poured out refrigerant oil is not heavily discolored, or does not contain any small fragments, then the A/C compressor can be replaced without cleaning the refrigerant circuit. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REPLACING WITHOUT NEEDING TO CLEAN REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .

-- Clean the refrigerant circuit (flush with refrigerant R134a or R1234yf). Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CLEANING .

-- Replace the dryer. Refer to Refrigerant Circuit (vehicle-specific Service Information).

-- Assemble, evacuate and fill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to WORKING WITH A/C SERVICE STATION .
