Test Diagram for Low Beams

The low beams can also be switched on when checking. However, the procedure described above is preferred for checking the dynamic high beam control.

The Vehicle Diagnostic Tester is not needed to check the low beams.

The headlamp adjustment can also be done with the test diagram for low beams.

-- The lowest part of the horizontal cut-off line must touch the test surface dividing line -1- when the low beams are on.

-- The bend point -2- between the left horizontal part and the right ascending part of the cut-off line should run vertically through the central point.

If no cut-off line with an increasing asymmetrical portion can be seen in the left headlamp (RHD traffic) or in the right headlamp (LHD traffic), then the "city lights" must be deactivated.

City lights is a feature that ensures that there is no glare for oncoming traffic when the vehicle is going up to 30 km/h (18.6 mph) in city traffic.
