Rear Lid Trim Molding, Removing And Installing: Installing
Note the assembly instructions. Refer to REPAIR INFORMATION .
-- Open the rear lid.
-- Remove adhesive residue on the painted side from the adhesive surface using the Adhesive Strip Remover:VAS 6349 , cleaning cloth and adhesive remover. Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information.
- Pay attention to the flash-off time of the adhesive remover of 3 minutes.
-- Clean the adhesive surface with cleaning solution and a new lint-free cleaning cloth.
- Adhere to the cleaning solution flash-off time of 10 minutes before installation.
- Remove the protective film on adhesive tape only immediately before installation.
-- Lift the trim molding.
-- Remove the protective film from the adhesive tape with the help of the pulling aids.
Loosening the bonding is only possible using sufficient force.
- To assess the pressing on force with the Pressure Roller:T40400 , the Digital Scale:VAS 231 007 can be used. A pressing on force of 70 N equals a weight of 7 kg (15.43 lbs).
- Keep the sequence for rolling on.
-- Align the trim molding to the dimensions -a-, -b-, and -c-.
-- Bond the trim molding -3- and press it on securely on the entire adhesive surface -1-.
-- Roll over the trim molding in the area of the adhesive tape -2- using the Pressure Roller:T40400 and a force of 30 N to 50 N.
-- Check the components for a secure fit after installation.
- Maintain the minimum curing time of 24 hours at the processing temperature.
