Expansion Valve, Removing And Installing, GTE: Removing

-- Remove the air duct pipe. Refer to TURBOCHARGER AIR DUCT PIPE/CHARGE AIR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Release and disconnect the connector for the High-Voltage Battery Coolant Valve -N688-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-.

-- Loosen the bracket -1- from the plenum chamber bulkhead and lay aside the High-Voltage Battery Coolant Valve -N688- with the refrigerant lines still connected.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 3-.

-- Fold the heat shield -2- as far forward as possible -arrow-.

CAUTION:

Danger or frostbite due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.

Frostbite on the skin and other parts of the body is possible.

- Wear safety gloves.

- Wear protective eyewear.

- Extract refrigerant and open the refrigerant circuit immediately.

- If more than 10 minutes have elapsed since evacuating the refrigerant and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, evacuate the refrigerant again. Evaporation can cause pressure to develop in the refrigerant circuit.

-- Discharge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, DISCHARGING .

-- For all following procedures immediately seal all the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set:VAS6122  .

NOTE:

For vehicles with a high-voltage system, the Heater and A/C Unit Refrigerant Shut-Off Valve -N541- is installed in the high pressure side refrigerant line. Refer to Heater and A/C Unit Refrigerant Shut-Off Valve -N541-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Release and disconnect the connector -C- for the Heater and A/C Unit Refrigerant Shut-Off Valve -N541- -item D-.

-- Remove the bolt -7-.

NOTE:

The illustration shows the layout on a vehicle without a high-voltage system.

-- Remove the nuts -1 and 3- from the refrigerant line with the inner heat exchanger -5-.

-- Disconnect the refrigerant line with the inner heat exchanger -5- from the expansion valve.

-- Remove the bolts -1 and 3-.
