Desiccant Bag, Removing And Installing, MODINE Condenser: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the A/C compressor if the refrigerant circuit is empty.

- Never start the engine with the refrigerant circuit empty.

NOTE:

Replace the cap, seal and desiccant bag after every opening of the receiver/dryer. Refer to Parts Information.

Version 1

-- Using the opening, inspect the receiver/dryer on the condenser for dirt and damage on the threaded- and sealing surfaces.

-- Insert the filter element (with screen) -2- into the condenser receiver/dryer on the proper side.

The filter element must be pushed in until stop.

Version 2

-- Using the opening, inspect the receiver/dryer -2- on the condenser for dirt and damage on the threaded- and sealing surfaces.

-- Insert the filter element (with screen) -1- into the condenser receiver/dryer -2- on the proper side.

The filter element must be pushed in until stop.

Continuation for All Vehicles

NOTE:

Keep the desiccant bag air-tight package closed as long as possible. Do not remove the desiccant bag until just before replacing the desiccant bag in the condenser. After opening the desiccant bag absorbs moisture from the surrounding air in a very short time and become unusable.

-- Remove the desiccant bag from the package and insert it into the condenser receiver/dryer.

-- Insert the cap -2- and push it far enough downward so that the snap ring -1- can engage in the groove.

-- Coat the new seals with refrigerant oil before installing the refrigerant line.

-- Install the cap -1- using the T50 Socket.

Vehicles with Refrigerant R134a

-- Fill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Perform the leak test on the refrigerant circuit line connections that were closed again. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

Vehicles with Refrigerant R1234yf

-- Charge the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CHARGING .

-- Perform the leak test on the closed line connections of the refrigerant circuit. Refer to LEAKS, FINDING .
