Overview - Front Brakes

CAUTION:
After every brake pad replacement, firmly press down on the brake pedal several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly set in their respective operating position.
Use the Brake Filling and Bleeding Equipment:VAS 6860US to extract brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.
Install the Brake Pedal Actuator:VAG1869/2 before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose (doing so reduces the pressure).

- 12 Nm
- Brake Rotor
- Internally vented
- Wear limits. Refer to FRONT BRAKES .
- Always replace on both sides of the axle
- Before removal, remove the brake caliper and brake carrier
- TORX®
Bolt
- 4.5 Nm
- Brake Carrier
- Lightly grease the pad guide surfaces. Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information for the grease allocation.
- Brake Pads
- 14 mm thick without backing plate
- With right front brake pad wear indicator
- When the wear limit is reached (limit: approximately 4 mm), the indicator lamp in the instrument cluster will come on; the contact sensor can be replaced separately.
- Wear limit: 2 mm without backing plate
- Thickness, Checking. Refer to FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PAD THICKNESS AND BRAKE ROTOR CONDITION, CHECKING .
- Always replace on both sides of the axle
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE PADS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Trim with Emblem

- Brake Caliper
- Do not disconnect the brake hose when replacing a brake pad
- Removing and Installing. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Servicing. Refer to OVERVIEW - FRONT BRAKE CALIPER

- Self-Locking Hex Bolt
- Replace after removing
- 35 Nm
- Ribbed Bolt
- Clean if using again
- 200 Nm
- Wheel Bearing Housing
- With bolted brake carrier

- With bolted brake carrier
- Brake Hose with Ring Connection and Banjo Bolt
- Make sure it is in the installation position
- 35 Nm
- Clip
- Bracket
- Bolt
- 8 Nm
