Lower Control Arm, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With DSG Transmission 0D9, 0DD, Excluding PASSAT GTE: Notes

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Engine Support:T10533

Removing

-- Loosen the wheel bolts.

-- Raise the vehicle.

-- Remove the wheel.

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- Loosen the wheel housing liner in the rear area and fold forward.

Vehicles with Level Control System Sensor

-- Press the pins -arrows- inward and remove the expanding rivets -2-.

-- Remove the trim panel -1-.

-- Remove the nut -1-.

-- Remove the bracket -2- for the Left Front Level Control System Sensor -G78- or Right Front Level Control Sensor -G289- from the control arm -3-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows-.

-- Remove the control arm from the ball joint and then turn the wheel bearing housing toward the outside to take the load off the control arm.

-- Remove the pendulum support. Refer to PENDULUM SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Loosen the exhaust system double clamp. Refer to OVERVIEW - MUFFLER, PASSAT, ARTEON .

Left Lower Control Arm, AWD Vehicles:

-- Remove the driveshaft from the bevel box and secure it. Refer to OVERVIEW - DRIVESHAFT .

-- Remove the exhaust system bracket from the subframe -arrows-.

-- Completely assemble the Engine Support:T10533  to reach the shortest length.

-- Install the Engine Support:T10533  -2- with the highest angle -arrow- on the transmission. To do so use the shortest bolt of the pendulum support thread -1-.

-- Push the engine and transmission forward until the Engine Support - Threaded Rod:T10533/5  -3- can be inserted in the pendulum support bearing.

-- Turn the Engine Support:T10533  until the distance -a- between the bolt for the control arm -1- and the transmission is reached.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.

-- Swivel the control arm -1- toward the rear and then remove it from the subframe in -direction of arrow-.
