Lower Control Arm Rear Bonded Rubber Bushing, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

-- Remove the control arm. Refer to LOWER CONTROL ARM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Bonded Rubber Bushing, Pressing Out

-- Press out the bonded rubber bushings as shown.

  1. Press Piece - Rod:VW 411 
  2. Bearing Installer - Multiple Use:3348 
  3. Control Arm
  4. Bearing Installer - Wheel Bearing:3345 
  5. Press Plate:VW 401

-- Install the bonded rubber bushing as shown.

  1. Press Piece - Multiple Use:VW 412 
  2. Sleeve:VW 459/2 
  3. Control Arm
  4. Bearing Installer - Wheel Bearing:3345 
  5. Press Plate:VW 401 
  6. Bonded Rubber Bushing
CAUTION:

The offset -arrow- inside of the sleeve -2- must point downward.

Install the bonded rubber bushing far enough until the Bearing Installer - Wheel Bearing:3345  contacts the control arm.

The kidney-shaped area -1- of the bonded rubber bushing must be lubricated.

-- To do so, apply grease in the kidney-shaped area -1- starting from the top working outward.

-- Use the grease :G 052 150 A2  .

-- The required quantity of grease for both sides is approximately 1 cm -dimension a- as shown.

-- The grease quantity must be applied on the top using a commercially available brush.

-- The contact surfaces to the control arm must not come in contact with grease.

-- Install the control arm. Refer to LOWER CONTROL ARM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
