Overview - Drive Axle, CV Joint VL 107

  1. Outer CV Joint
  2. Circlip
    • Always replace after removing
    • Insert in shaft groove
  3. Clamp
    • Always replace after removing
    • Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
  4. CV Boot
    • Check for tears and scuffing
  5. Clamp
    • Always replace after removing
    • Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
  6. Drive Axle
  7. Clamp
    • Always replace after removing
    • Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
  8. CV Joint CV Boot
    • Check for tears and scuffing
    • Drive off CV joint using a drift
    • Coat the sealing surface with :D 454 300 A2  before installing it on the CV joint
  9. Clamp
    • Always replace after removing
    • Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
  10. Inner CV Joint
    • Bolted to the transmission
    • Only replace completely
    • Removing. Refer to Figure.
    • Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester Refer to INNER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
  11. Circlip
    • Remove and install using Circlip Pliers:VW 161A  .
  12. Cover
    • Always replace after removing
    • Carefully drive off using a drift Refer to Figure
  13. Internal Multi-Point Bolt
    • Always replace after removing
    • M10 x 52
    • First tighten diagonally to 10 Nm, then tighten diagonally again to the tightening specification
    • 70 Nm
  14. Backing Plate
  15. Inner CV Joint
    • Attached in the transmission
    • Only replace completely
    • Removing. Refer to Figure.
    • Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester Refer to INNER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
  16. O-Ring
    • Always replace after removing
    • Insert in shaft groove
  17. Circlip
    • Always replace after removing
    • Insert in shaft groove
