Overview - Drive Axle, CV Joint VL 107

- Outer CV Joint
- Only replace completely
- Removing. Refer to Outer CV Joint, Removing .
- Installing: using a plastic hammer, drive onto the shaft as far as the stop
- Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester Refer to OUTER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
- Circlip
- Always replace after removing
- Insert in shaft groove
- Clamp
- Always replace after removing
- Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
- CV Boot
- Check for tears and scuffing
- Clamp
- Always replace after removing
- Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
- Drive Axle
- Clamp
- Always replace after removing
- Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
- CV Joint CV Boot
- Check for tears and scuffing
- Drive off CV joint using a drift
- Coat the sealing surface with :D 454 300 A2 before installing it on the CV joint
- Clamp
- Always replace after removing
- Tensioning. Refer to Figure.
- Inner CV Joint
- Bolted to the transmission
- Only replace completely
- Removing. Refer to Figure.
- Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester Refer to INNER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
- Circlip
- Remove and install using Circlip Pliers:VW 161A .
- Cover
- Always replace after removing
- Carefully drive off using a drift Refer to Figure
- Internal Multi-Point Bolt
- Always replace after removing
- M10 x 52
- First tighten diagonally to 10 Nm, then tighten diagonally again to the tightening specification
- 70 Nm
- Backing Plate
- Inner CV Joint
- Attached in the transmission
- Only replace completely
- Removing. Refer to Figure.
- Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester Refer to INNER CV JOINT, CHECKING .
- O-Ring
- Always replace after removing
- Insert in shaft groove
- Circlip
- Always replace after removing
- Insert in shaft groove
