Refrigerant R744
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 and 2021 Volkswagen ID.4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- A/C systems in vehicles utilize the vaporization and condensation process. At the same time the substance (refrigerant) moves in a closed system.
- Thus one must work with a substance that boils easily, which is described here as refrigerant; more specifically, refrigerant R744.
- Refrigerant R744 has several other trade names, such as carbon dioxide, Biogon, etc.
- Only refrigerant R744 must be used in the A/C system according to AHRI Standard 700 (H2 O <=10ppm CO2 >=99, 9%).
- Refrigerant R744 is a naturally occurring carbon compound with the chemical designation "CO2 " that boils at approximately -78 °C (-108.4 °F) at a vapor pressure of "1 bar (14.5 psi)" (corresponds to the ambient pressure). Refer to REFRIGERANT PRESSURE AND BOILING POINT .
