Bumper Cover, Removing And Installing, From 02/24/2020: Removing

-- Turn off the ignition and all electrical equipment.

-- Move the ignition key outside of the vehicle to prevent the ignition from switching on unintentionally.

Vehicles with Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428-

-- Remove the Distance Regulation Control Module -J428-. Refer to CONTROL MODULE FOR ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL -J428-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -5- from below.

-- Only loosen the wheel arch trims -2- in the bumper cover area. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Press the hook -8- for the wheel arch trim -2- together on the inside of the bumper cover.

-- Loosen the wheel arch trim -2- from the bumper cover in the direction of -arrow A-.

-- Remove the screws -3- in the wheel housing (pointing upward) on the left and right sides.

-- Remove the bolts -4- in the wheel housing on the left and right side.

-- Remove the bolts -7- from the radiator grille.

A second technician is required for the rest of the removal procedure.

-- Pull the bumper cover -1- out of the left and right guide retainers on the fender in direction of -arrow B-.

-- Remove the bumper cover -1- from the vehicle together with a second technician in direction of -arrow C-.

-- If equipped, release and disconnect the connectors of the bumper cover wiring harness -1-.
