Coolant Mixture Ratio
- Coolant (40%) and distilled water (60%) for freeze protection down to -25 °C (-13 °F)
- Coolant (50%) and distilled water (50%) for freeze protection down to -36 °C (-32.8 °F)
- Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information for the correct coolant.
Filling:
-- Slide the coolant hose -1- at bottom on to the cooler connection and secure.
-- Connect the connector for the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor -- radiator outlet on the coolant hose -1-.
-- Install the test adapter -2- (Cooling System Tester - Directional Valve :VAS 691 005/5 ) on the coolant expansion tank -1-.
-- Perform the check (self-test) for the Cooling System Charge Kit:VAS 6096 and Cooling System Charge Kit - Electric Vacuum Pump:VAS 6096/2 . Refer to Cooling System Charge Kit .
-- Position the Cooling System Charge Kit:VAS 6968 so that it is higher than the coolant expansion tank -arrows- and fill it with at least 20 liters of premixed coolant with the right mixture ratio.
-- Bleed the hose -2-.
-- For this open the valve on the Cooling System Charge Device VAS 6968 and the valves -A- and -B- until the hose -2- is filled with coolant and no more air is present.
-- Close the valves -A- and -B- by turning lever at a right angle to the flow direction.
-- Open the cap -1-.
-- Connect the Cooling System Charge Device -1- (COOLING SYSTEM CHARGE DEVICE:VAS 6968 ) on the Cooling System Tester - Directional Valve -2- (:VAS 691 005/5 ).
-- Connect the hose -1- from the Cooling System Charge Kit - Electric Vacuum Pump:VAS 6096/2 to the connector coupling -B- on the Cooling System Charge Device (Cooling System Charge Kit:VAS 6096 ).
-- Connect the Cooling System Charge Kit - Electric Vacuum Pump:VAS 6096/2 on the vehicle battery and switch on. Open the valve -B-.
-- Using the Electric Vacuum Pump vacuum for five minutes. After five minutes the vacuum is sufficient for the final filling.
-- Pay attention that the water separator -1- in the vacuum pump is not filled with coolant.
Risk of damaging the due to extracted coolant.
- Make sure the Electric Vacuum Pump does not extract any coolant. If necessary extract the coolant expansion tank. Refer to If the coolant expansion tank is filled with coolant due to the vacuum, the coolant expansion tank must be drained: .
