Right Seal, Replacing, AWD: Removing

The right drive axle must be removed later in the procedure.

-- With the vehicle still standing on its wheels, loosen the right front collar bolt -arrow- a maximum of 90°. Otherwise the wheel bearing will get damaged. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- If equipped, remove the heat shield -A- for the drive axle -C- -arrows 1-.

The heat shield for the right drive axle is attached with two or three nuts. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place the Drip Tray underneath.

-- Remove the right drive axle -C-. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Drain the fluid from the bevel box, bolt -A-.

-- Then install the new bolt and tighten. Refer to OVERVIEW - BEVEL BOX COMPONENTS .

-- Use a Socket to remove the right flange shaft bolt -arrow- Insert two bolts in the flange and counterhold the flange shaft with the tire iron.

-- Remove the flange shaft -1- using the : T10037 .

-A- = M 10 X 25 bolts

NOTE:

To remove the flange shaft, use the : T10037 to avoid damaging the bearing on the flange shaft.

At the top of the bevel box there is a hex bolt -B- with an M 8 threaded pin.

-- Place the : T10135 on this hex bolt to support the : T10037 .

-- Align the : T10037 parallel to the flange using the Spindle -C-.

-- Remove the flange shaft.

-- Pry out the flange shaft seal using a lever.
