Overview - Input Shaft

NOTE:

Warm the toothed gear to approximately 100 °C (212 °F) using Inductive Heater: VAS6414 . Wear protective gloves.

Install all input shaft bearings with transmission fluid.

Circlip
- For grooved ball bearing/drive axle
- Removing and installing. Refer to TRANSMISSION, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING .
- Determining a new thickness. Refer to TRANSMISSION, DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING - The Circlip for the Grooved Ball Bearing/Input Shaft must be Re-Examined on Transmissions with Reinforcements:

- Redetermine when replacing the grooved ball bearing and the input shaft. Refer to Figure.
Grooved Ball Bearing
- Replace after removing
- Removing. Refer to Figure.
- Installation position. Refer to Figure.
- Installing. Refer to Figure.
5th Gear
- Available as a replacement part together with the input shaft
- Removing. Refer to Figure.
- Installed position: the surrounding groove -arrow- points toward grooved ball bearing
- Installing. Refer to Figure.
Input Shaft
- With 3rd/4th and 6th gear
Cylindrical Roller Bearing
- With circlip
- Removing. Refer to Figure.
- Installing. Refer to Figure.
- Installed position: the circlip in bearing points to input shaft
Clutch Housing
