Gear Oil, Checking Level

• The bevel box is attached to the side of the transmission and has it own oil system.
• Refer to the 03 MAINTENANCE, DIAGNOSIS (2019) , 03 MAINTENANCE, DIAGNOSIS (2020) or 03 MAINTENANCE, DIAGNOSIS (2021) for the gear oil specification.

Procedure 

• Replace the fluid filler hole plug after removal.

• Move the vehicle onto a four-column workshop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
• The engine is off.

-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION to .

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and then remove the right drive axle heat shield, if equipped.

-- Remove the oil filler hole plug -1-.

• Specified value: gear oil level up to lower edge of the oil filler hole.

-- Add gear oil if necessary. Refer to GEAR OIL, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Install the drive axle heat shield. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Tightening Specifications 

• Refer to OVERVIEW - DRAIN AND CHECK PLUGS
• Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
