Test Sequence
-- Remove the bleed line -1-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .
-- Connect the :VAS6213 to the vent line to the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister as illustrated.
-- Secure the :VAS6550/3-1 on the vent line.
-- Connect the :VAS6213 and the :VAS6550/3-1 using a standard hose -A-.
-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213 in position -B- for "pressure".
-- Press the :VAS6213 several times.
- Pressure must increase.
If The Pressure Does Not Increase:
-- Check the hose to the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- for leaks and damage and replace it if necessary.
If no error can be found:
-- Check the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Replace if necessary.
If The Pressure Increases:
-- Check the vent connection. Proceed as follows for this procedure.
Checking The Ventilation Connection
This step serves to check the ventilation connection on the EVAP canister.
If the ventilation connection functions correctly, then no vacuum will build.
-- Remove the bleed line -1-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .
-- Connect the :VAS6213 to the vent line to the EVAP canister as illustrated.
-- Secure the :VAS6550/3-1 on the vent line.
-- Connect the :VAS6213 and the :VAS6550/3-1 using a standard hose -A-.
-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213 in position -A- for "vacuum".
-- Press the :VAS6213 several times.
- No vacuum should be built up.
If A Vacuum Forms:
-- Check the vent hose at the EVAP canister for contamination and clean if necessary. Refer to OVERVIEW - EVAP SYSTEM .
If No Vacuum Forms:
The vent connection is OK.
-- Check the vent lines and EVAP canister by performing the following tests. Refer to Checking Vent Lines in the Engine Compartment and the EVAP Canister below.
Checking Vent Lines In The Engine Compartment And The EVAP Canister :
-- Remove the bleed line -1-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .
-- Connect the :VAS6213 to the vent line to the EVAP canister as illustrated.
-- Secure the :VAS6550/3-1 on the vent line.
-- Connect the :VAS6213 and the :VAS6550/3-1 using a standard hose -A-.
-- Seal the ventilation hose -arrow-.
-- Set the slide ring -1- on the :VAS6213 in position -A- for "vacuum".
-- Press the :VAS6213 several times.
- A vacuum must form.
If No Vacuum Forms:
-- Clamp off the hose between the EVAP canister -1- and EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- -5-.
-- Press the vacuum pump again several times.
Vacuum:
The EVAP Canister And The Line -3- Are OK:
-- Check the hose between the EVAP canister and the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- for leaks and replace if necessary.
If No Vacuum Forms:
-- Check the EVAP canister for leaks and damage and replace if necessary.
-- Check the line to the EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- for leaks and damage.
If No Malfunction Can Be Found:
Vehicles with Externally Installed Fuel Filter:
Check the vent line to the coupling point on the underbody.
-- Release and remove the vent line -1-. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS .
-- Seal the vent line -1- with the : T10249 .
Continuation For All Vehicles
-- Connect the :VAS6213 with the :VAS6550/3-2 to the line to the fuel tank.
-- Press the vacuum pump several times.
- A vacuum must form.
If No Vacuum Forms:
-- Check the vent line to the coupling point on the underbody and replace if necessary.
If A Vacuum Forms:
-- Check the vent line between the coupling point on the underbody and the fuel tank for leaks and damage.
If No Malfunction Can Be Found:
-- Check the fuel tank for leaks and damage.
