Turbocharger, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Pay attention to the guidelines for clean working conditions in the repair information.

-- Secure all standard production hose clamps. Refer to the Parts Information.

NOTE:

If mechanical damage is found on the turbocharger (for example a destroyed compressor wheel), simply replacing the turbocharger is not enough. To avoid subsequent damage later, perform the following steps:

Check the air filter housing, air filter element and air duct hoses for contamination.

Check the entire charge air circuit and charge air cooler for foreign objects.

If there are foreign objects in the charge air system, clean the charge air circuit and replace the charge air cooler if necessary.

-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the right drive axle heat shield.

-- Remove the heat shield boot.

-- Disconnect the connector -arrow- on the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378-.

-- If equipped, remove the Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-. Refer to Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor -V101-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then remove the oil supply line -1- and oil return pipe -2-.

-- Remove the bolt -2- and the screw-type clamp.

-- Remove the bolt -1- and the nuts -arrows- and tie up the catalytic converter.

-- Remove the air duct pipe. Refer to AIR DUCT PIPE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Push the release button and remove the hose -1- from the EVAP canister.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and then remove the crankcase ventilation hose.

-- Open the bracket -1- and remove the coolant hose -2-.

-- Disconnect the connector -2-.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- using the : VAS6234  and : T10405  .

-- Remove the support -1- upward.

-- Loosen the hose clamp -2- (if equipped) and remove the coolant hose.

-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and move the coolant lines -1- to the right.

-- Remove the bolts or nuts -arrows- and remove the heat shield -1-.

-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the turbocharger.
