Overview - Timing Chain Cover

O-Ring
- Replace after removing.
- Lubricate with engine oil

Bolt
- Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
Bolt
- Steel: 9 Nm
- Aluminum: 4 Nm + 45°
- Always replace aluminum bolts
Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205- AND Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Bolt
- Steel: 9 Nm
- Aluminum: 4 Nm + 45°
- Always replace aluminum bolts
- Only for Engines: CHHB, CXDA, CXCA, CNTA, CXCB, DKFA and CXDB
Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N205- AND Exhaust Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 -N318-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Only for Engines: CHHB, CXDA, CXCA, CNTA, CXCB, DKFA and CXDB
Seals
- Replace after removing.
- Installation position: smaller inner diameter outward
- Remove to replace the upper timing chain cover -item ) Upper Timing Chain Cover
- Lubricate with engine oil
Seal
- Replace if damaged
Cap
Upper Timing Chain Cover
- Removing and Installing. Refer to UPPER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Seal
- Replace if damaged
O-Rings
- Replace after removing.
- Coat with engine oil
Alignment Pin
- For the lower timing chain cover
- Quantity: 2
Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence, cover with 15 bolts. Refer to Fig 4.
- Tightening specification and sequence, cover with 8 bolts. Refer to Fig 3.
- Replace after removing.
Lower Timing Chain Cover
- Replacing. Refer to LOWER TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Seal
- For the vibration damper
- Replacing. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER SEALING RING, REPLACING .
Plugs
- Replace after removing.

Upper Timing Chain Cover - Tightening Sequence

-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 6- in the sequence shown:

Step	Bolts	Tightening Specification/Additional Turn
1.	-1 to 6-	Install all the way by hand
2.	-1 to 6-	9 Nm

-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 8- in three stages in the sequence shown:

Step	Bolts	Steel Bolts	Aluminum Bolts
1.	-1 through 8-	8 Nm	4 Nm
2.	-2 to 3- and -5 to 8-	45° additional turn	45° additional turn
3.	-1 and 4-	After installing the vibration damper tighten with an additional turn.	After installing the vibration damper tighten with an additional turn.

Lower Timing Chain Cover - Tightening Sequence for 15 Bolts

-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 15- in three stages in the sequence shown:

Step	Bolts	Steel Bolts	Aluminum Bolts
1.	-1 through 15-	8 Nm	4 Nm
2.	-1, 2, 4, 5- and -7 to 15-	45° additional turn	45° additional turn
3.	-3 and 6-	After installing the vibration damper tighten with an additional turn.	After installing the vibration damper tighten with an additional turn.
