Toothed Belt Sprocket, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the toothed belt from the camshafts. Refer to TOOTHED BELT, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFT .

-- Place a cleaning cloth under the camshaft adjuster and the tensioning roller to catch escaping engine oil.

-- The contact points for the toothed belt, as on the camshaft sprocket, crankshaft toothed belt sprockets, tensioning roller and the idler roller must be kept free of oil.

-- Loosen the bolt -2- for the intake side camshaft adjuster. Refer to INTAKE CAMSHAFT ADJUSTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH ADJUSTABLE EXHAUST CAMSHAFT .

-- Loosen the bolt -1- approximately one turn by using the : T10172A  with the : T10172/2  and : T10172/1  .

-- Remove the exhaust side toothed belt sprocket bolt and remove the toothed belt sprocket.
