Camshaft, Measuring Axial Clearance

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Dial Gauge Holder: VW387 
• Dial Gauge - 0-10mm: VAS6079 

Procedure

-- Remove the camshaft housing. Refer to CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Secure the : VAS6079  on the camshaft housing with the : VW387  as shown.

-- Press the camshaft against the dial gauge by hand.

-- Set the dial gauge to "0".

-- Push the camshaft off the dial gauge and read the value.

Axial clearance: 

• Wear limit: 0.25 mm.
