Intake Camshaft Adjuster, Removing And Installing, Vehicles Without Adjustable Exhaust Camshaft: Installing

The camshafts are secured in the "TDC point".
The camshaft sprockets are positioned to each other.
The crankshaft is at "TDC point".
The guide sleeve from the camshaft adjuster must be placed on the camshaft before installing.

-- Replace the O-ring for the plug if it is damaged.

-- Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

-- Remove the camshaft adjuster.

-- Replace the bolt -1- for the intake camshaft adjuster and install loosely.

-- Replace the toothed belt sprocket bolt -2- for the exhaust camshaft and install loosely.

NOTE:

Risk of destroying the engine by adjusting the valve timing.

Do not turn the crankshaft out of TDC.

-- Position the toothed belt on the camshafts and adjust the valve timing. Refer to Installing .

Pre-Tightening Procedure

-- Remove the : T10340 to tighten to the pre-tightening specification.

-- Hold the intake camshaft with the : T10554 and : T10172 in the position.

-- Tighten the bolt -1- in two steps to the pre-tightening specification.

Step	Intake Camshaft Adjuster Bolt	Tightening Specification
1	-1-	15 Nm
2	-1-	50 Nm

-- Hold the exhaust camshaft with the : T10172 and : T10172/1 in the position.

-- Tighten the bolt -1- in two steps to the pre-tightening specification.

1	-1-	15 Nm
2	-1-	50 Nm

Final Tightening Procedure

-- Tighten the bolt -1- for the camshaft adjuster to the final tightening specification.

-1-	135°

-- Tighten the bolt for the exhaust camshaft toothed belt sprocket to the final tightening specification.

-- Hold the intake camshaft with the : T10554 and : T10172 in the position.
