Overview - Balance Shaft

NOTE:
After performing work on the chain drive the adaptation value in the engine control module must be adapted. To do so, turn on the ignition and select the following menu items on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester:
Engine control module, functions
0001 - Adaptation after repair work on chain drive
- Bolt
- 4 Nm + 45° additional turn
- Always replace
- Balance Shaft
- Replace in pairs only
- Exhaust side
- Lubricate the bearing with engine oil
- Replacing. Refer to EXHAUST SIDE BALANCE SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Needle Bearing Rim
- Replace each time the balance shaft is removed
- The needle bearing rim is colored, a needle bearing rim of the same color must be installed.
- Balance Shaft Pipe
- Installation position. Refer to Fig 2.
- Cylinder Block
- Intake Side Balance Shaft Seal
- Replacing. Refer to BALANCE SHAFT GASKET, REPLACING, INTAKE SIDE .
- Balance Shaft
- Replace in pairs only
- Intake side
- Lubricate the bearing with engine oil
- Replacing. Refer to INTAKE SIDE BALANCE SHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Needle Bearing Rim
- Replace each time the balance shaft is removed
- The needle bearing rim is colored, a needle bearing rim of the same color must be installed.
- Bolt
- 4 Nm + 45° additional turn
- Always replace

The openings -arrow- must face the chain side.
