Overview - Oil Pan/Oil Pump
If large quantities of metal shavings or abraded material are detected during an engine repair, it may mean the crankshaft or connecting rod bearings are damaged. To prevent damage, perform the following steps after completing the repair: carefully clean the oil channels and replace the oil spray jets, the oil cooler and the oil filter.

- Removing and installing. Refer to Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Seal
- Always replace after removing.
- Oil Drain Plug
- 30 Nm
- Always replace after removing.
- Replace only after the first oil change after shop assembly
- Seal
- Always replace after removing.
- Oil Pan Lower Section
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Bolt
- 5 Nm + 90°
- Always replace after removing.

- For the oil pump drive chain sprocket
- Drive Chain
- For the oil pump
- Before removing, mark the running direction with paint
- Bolt
- Tightening specification and sequence. Refer to Fig 4.
- Always replace after removing.
- Oil Pan Upper Section
- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Oil Baffle
- Chain Sprocket
- For oil pump drive
- Alignment Pin
- Oil Filter
- 20 Nm
- Remove and install with Wrench - Oil Filter: 3417
- Coat the seal before installing with clean engine oil.
- If the threaded connections for the oil filter are loosened in the oil pan. Refer to Fig 2.

- Removing and installing. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

- Always replace after removing.
- Oil Intake Pipe
- Clean the screen if there are debris
- Bolt
- Tightening sequence. Refer to Fig 3.
- Always replace after removing.
Retainer Threaded Connection for the Oil Filter
- If the threaded connection -2- is loosened from the oil pan -1-, secure it again as described in the following.
Perform the Procedure Exclusively Using the Nuts -3 and 4-.
- Hex Nuts -- (quantity: 2). Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Unscrew the nuts -3 and 4- from the threaded connection -2- and then tighten against each other (secure).
-- Tighten the threaded connection -2- via the nut -3-.
-- Loosen both nuts and screw down, at the same time pay attention that the threaded connection is not loosened.
