Passenger Occupant Detection System Pressure Sensor, Removing And Installing: Installing

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

On vehicles with seat heating, the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor and the seat heating element are a shared component.

WARNING:
  • Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
  • Before handling airbag units (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.

-- Connect the cover and cushion. Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND CUSHION, SEPARATING .

-- Install the seat cushion and cover. Refer to SEAT PAN COVER AND CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Route and secure the wiring harness for the passenger occupant detection system sensor on the seat frame.

-- Connect the sensor connector -3- for the passenger occupant detection system to the wiring harness.

NOTE:

Make sure the connectors are pushed in all the way and that they engage audibly.

Make sure the wires are not pinched.

-- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

WARNING:

If the ignition is not switched on after the battery is reconnected - "indicator lamps in the instrument cluster do not light up" - the ignition (key/button) may only be switched on when the driver seat is positioned all the way back.

NOTE:

If the Airbag Indicator Lamp -K75- indicates a fault after installing, check the DTC memory, erase it and check it again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
