Head Curtain Airbag With Igniter, Removing And Installing: Removing
- Observe the safety precautions for pyrotechnical components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Observe the additional safety precautions for the head curtain airbag. Refer to ADDITIONAL HEAD CURTAIN AIRBAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
- Observe the disposal regulations for pyrotechnical components. Refer to. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Remove the headliner. Refer to HEADLINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Guide the strap -3- out of the square hole in the A-pillar.
-- Remove the clips -1 and 2-.
-- Disengage the clips -1 through 6- in the mounting tabs for the head curtain airbag from the body.
-- To do so, forcefully push the :VAS1978/17 -7- with the >>spoon<< -arrow- evenly into the opening -A- as shown, until it stops.
-- At the same time, pull the left side of the clip out of the vehicle body.
-- Pull the :VAS1978/17 -7- back out and make sure that the clips on the loosened side do not re-engage.
-- Turn the :VAS1978/17 -7- 180°.
-- Repeat the procedure on the opening -B-.
Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Remove the connector lock -2- and remove the connector -1- from the head curtain airbag -4- -arrow-.
-- Remove the bolt -3- from the head curtain airbag.
-- First disengage the head curtain airbag -4- at the front from the mount on the body and push it toward the rear.
-- Disengage the head curtain airbag at the rear from the mount on the body and remove.
